Why the Persecution?
The former head of the Chinese Communist Regime – Jiang Zemin launched the olitical campaign to persecute Falun Gong with the state machines and state-run media in July of 1999.
Due to his insecurity of personal power, Jiang Zemin could not tolerate Falun Gong – the largest independent group practicing a spiritual discipline aligned with traditional values, instead of Communist ideology. By 1999,the Chinese government estimated about 70-100 million people were practicing Falun Gong in China. This
outnumbered the Communist Party membership.
Viewing Falun Gong’s core principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance as an ideological threat, the Communist Party does not allow Chinese people to have real spiritual freedom. They are afraid of losing control of people’s minds.
Scale of Persecution
• As of July of 2016, there are more than 4,000 death cases documented that Falun Gong practitioners died of persecution.
• Hundreds of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners were forced into labor camps and jails as slave labors.
• Thousands of Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to psychiatric torture.
• Hundreds of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to organ harvesting due to missing and no identity.
“Overseas and domestic media and advocacy groups continued to report instances of organ harvesting, particularly from Falun Gong practitioners and Uighurs.” —U.S. State Department 2011 Human Rights Report
