For 5,000 years, Chinese culture was heralded as a divine gift by the inhabitants of the world’s oldest continuous civilization. Its glory was long the inspiration of artists and poets.  Sadly though, in the last half of the twentieth century, this heritage was almost lost.  Based in New York, Shen Yun Performing Arts seeks to revive the traditions of China’s glorious culture by creating a production worthy in its beauty of this noble history – something that enriches the lives of audiences in powerful, lasting ways.

This groundbreaking company of performers, including a full orchestra, scores of dancers, and operatic solo singers will be in Washington, D.C. with an all-new show March 21 through April 1.  The Kennedy Center performances are proudly presented by the Falun Dafa Association of Washington D.C., a non-profit organization.

To kickoff the 2012 Spring performance Wednesday, March 21 at 7:30 p.m., the Falun Dafa Association of Washington, D.C., will honor Wounded Warriors and their families by sharing this show with them and acknowledging the tremendous sacrifices they have made for all of us during the program interludes.

Practitioners of Falun Dafa, a traditional system of meditation and spiritual cultivation, continue to suffer brutal persecution in China today, where freedom of expression and belief has long been suppressed. Each year, select pieces of Shen Yun’s programs highlight the struggle against oppression with compelling, artistic dance dramas performed as classical Chinese dance. These moving pieces speak to the hearts of all people who have faced injustice in the world, and will surely strike a meaningful chord with our troops.

Two hundred soldiers and their families have been invited to attend the performance as honored guests of the Falun Dafa Association. Arrangements have been made for their transportation.  However, we need your help to defray the ticket costs for these American heroes.
